The architecture of this house is already oozing with warmth. Beautiful dark chocolate concrete floors, pecky cypress wood ceilings and beautiful iron sconces set the mood and tone for the soft layers of color.
The main family living space is long and narrow. Actually it's a bit awkward to work with so I developed two disctinct sitting areas, one with the focal point being the fireplace, the other around the dreaded but most necessary enormous television. This house is going to be beautiful, but most importantly it is a respite for a large family who will be there on a regular basis. It will be used year round so watching football in the fall, movies in the winter and for lots of entertaining as well.I also plan to provide enough seating for large groups (the house has five bedrooms, plus a carriage house). We have devised a U shaped seating area around the television and a perfect nook by the fireplace.
Remember, these were our inspiration pictures for this project. After visiting the house last week for the first time, I'm so happy my vision is going to fit just beautifully. Again, my design is a little more traditional but the feeling will be the same as these below.
The main sofa is going to be 8 feet long and upholstered in a beautiful Glant boucle fabric. It's comfortable and cozy while still having a level of sophistication this house requires.
Pillows on the sofa are out of Mokum, Rogers & Goffigon and Alan Campbell Fabrics. Quiet but with interest.
We are doing four chairs like these below flanking the sofa to create a U-shaped seating area. This Rogers & Goffigon fabric will be beautiful on chairs similar to this Holly Hunt chair.
We are upholstering a coffee table like this one so it can double as a coffee table and ottoman. This is a "put your feet up" kind of house.
We are doing three ottomans that will float in the Family Room. They will be small and light so they can be easily moved to your favorite chair. They will also be great seating for children. We are doing two out of the Neisha Crosland fabric below and one out of the C & C Milano fabric.
These two chairs will flank the fireplace similar to the above inspiration picture. It's going to be a perfect spot to read a book or drink a cup of coffee. It's part of the main seating area but a separate space as well.This is a Koch-Smith chair upholstered in a Bergamo fabric.
And a Stanford chair being upholstered in a Perennials fabric.
I spent last week shopping for furniture and lighting as well as finalizing our paint schedule and floor refinishing. We plan to frame each set of French doors (there are five total) with beautiful shears like these below and a Smith & Noble shade on each. Privacy is important in Rosemary Beach because the houses are close together and there are walking paths everywhere. The Smith & Noble shades will provide this privacy if needed.
We plan to paint the majority of the walls, trim and ceilings in this house Benjamin Moore Moonlight White. The trim around the French doors and staircase spindles and posts are being painted Benjamin Moore Fairview Taupe.

I found this absolutely beautiful lamp in a shop in Rosemary Beach. It's gorgeous! I couldn't stop looking at it. Every shell is exquisite.
We bought this table and lamp for the Family Living Area as well.
And don't you just love when you happen in a shop and find the two perfect rugs for your space? It doesn't happen often for me but these two rugs were the exact right size and feel for our Family Room. They are both beautiful and the minute we put them down I knew it was perfection!
One is an antique Oushak and the other is a wool rug with a tone on tone stripe.
They are beautiful together and the colors couldn't be more perfect.My favorite part of my job is starting to put the puzzle together. It's so much fun and rewarding too.
