Ragland Hill Social: A Conversation "Blog-Style"I've spent the better part of this last year pouring over design and lifestyle blogs. I've had a renewed excitement and connection to the interior design community, as well as, anyone who has a passion for and love of home. Talking about decorating, entertaining and anything else related to creating a special home is what I do daily with my clients, family and friends.It all started with my sister-in-law, Ann Prince, insisting I read some design blogs. She was certain I would love them and that eventually I should be writing one. Honestly, I was clueless. I didn't even know what a blog was much less know how to create one. Ann and I have been together, for what is now going on 14 years. I married her brother and the rest was history. We talk daily and I would say 9 out of 10 conversations are about home. I do interior design and she has incredible style and a gift for all things beautiful. Thus, our countless conversations about decorating, cooking, entertaining, wine, gardening, flowers, styling for home and body, the list goes on and on.My interest was peaked and so I carved out some time one Monday morning to delve into this unknown for me, blogs. After 4 hours of non-stop exploration, I raced to the office to get to work. As my day marched on, I found myself longing to get back to my computer and read these blogs. It was like, all in one morning, I instantly had hundreds of new friends, people who thought like I did, felt like I did, obsessed like I did. These friends lived all over the world, but it felt like they were sitting in my breakfast room. We were talking about the subjects I truly think about until my brain is non-functioning.Yes, it is a bit of a non-traditional form of communication. One writes a post he/she has researched for days or maybe just something that touched his/her heart. Through comments and e-mail people respond and sometimes rudely. To someone who hasn't experienced this world it must seem strange and foreign. I have to admit it was to me when first introduced.I have always been fascinated by people: what makes them happy, what makes them sad, what makes them successful, proud and fulfilled. Because I do interior design, I spend incredible amounts of time getting to know my clients, fully understanding how they live, what makes a house a home for their family and for them. I have learned so much from my clients, what works, what doesn't and at the end of every day I've learned something new, including today, how to write my first blog post. Ragland Hill Social is a place to come together and share "blog-style" information on interior design, entertaining, food, wine, gardening and anything else that makes a house a home.
