There is quasi-attic space in the upstairs of her beautiful house that we are going to transform into a special haven for her three grandchildren. It's quirky, cool and quaint all rolled into one. In its raw form it has a great vibe and I could see instantly a new room: clean, fresh and bright. It has one dormer window, lots of angled walls and ceiling, truly "in the eaves" of the house. The best part is we've planned it on a budget appropriate for a room children will primarily use. It's going to be youthful and fun while still being as sophisticated as our client. We already had a rug similar to this one, 8' x 10'. We plan to use it in the primary seating area in front of the sofa. The floor is unfinished so we are using wall to wall sisal, natural with a grayish hue. The walls and ceiling will be wallpapered in a soft gray grasscloth for texture and a neutral wall color. All the trim, doors and windows are being painted Benjamin Moore Moonlight White, the best white available today in my opinion. We are adding a plantation shutter to the window because it's on the smaller side and a clean fresh look is the goal. Our client doesn't love her view out this window. With one click the view goes bye-bye.
There are three main upholstered pieces in the room along with a few other small upholstered items. The sofa is in a beautiful Glant chocolate chenille (sofa style as seen).

Now, for the really fun part. We want this space to have some whimsy, not be too serious, it's a playroom for lack of a better term. I felt the furnishings needed to be smart, efficient, budget friendly and fun. We've selected the following and it's going to be fab.

We need a writing table for more games or bigger projects so this table is just perfect.

The crowning glory of this project will be an Amanda Talley painting above the sofa. My client's love to go to New Orleans so next time their in NOLA, Amanda will be getting a visit.

We'll talk soon.
